What is the difference between the filler products?
Restylane®, Juvéderm™ and Perlane® are all Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler products, whereas Radiesse® is a calcium-based filler product. Radiesse® injections will last longer than HA filler products, but are less pliable. This makes Radiesse® an ideal choice of filler product for deep folds where more scaffolding is needed in nasolabial folds, along the jawline and in hollowed areas of the face.

What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance already present throughout your body. It provides volume and fullness to the skin, lubricates your joints, and gives your eyes their shape.

How do fillers work?
Fillers are injected into the skin in tiny amounts to add volume, lifting up and smoothing out unwanted wrinkles. No allergy test is required prior to receiving these filler products.

Which areas of the body can be treated with fillers?
Filler products can be used on the face for filling up folds and smoothing out wrinkles. They can also be used for lip enhancements and adding shape and contour to the face. The most common areas treated are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips. Extremely deep wrinkles may be difficult to correct.

What will I look like after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, you can expect to see slight redness, swelling and possible bruising at the injection sites (if the injections are deep). Additionally, you may experience tenderness or an itching sensation in the treated area. These symptoms are normally experienced after any injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. It is important to note that after a lip treatment, your lips may become swollen and appear somewhat uneven. This can persist for a few days up to a week.

What precautions will I need to take after treatment with filler products?
You will be advised not massage or rub the treated area for the first 48 hours after the injections. You will be instructed to avoid puckering your lips for the first 2 days after treatment if you have had a lip enhancement. You should not expose the treated area to intense heat (such as suntanning beds/booths, sunbathing, sauna) or extreme cold until the initial swelling and redness have resolved.

How long do the results last?
Clinical trials have revealed that the effects of HA last from four to six months. Because all patients respond differently to treatments, individual results may vary. Radiesse® and even some Juvéderm™ treatments can last from 6 months to two years.
