Melasma Mask & IPL Photo Facial

Jodi wanted to lighten the appearance of the freckles on her face and décolleté area. The problem is, Jodi has freckling and sun spots on the majority of her body including her arms and torso!
The strategy was to lighten Jodi's freckling and fade it gradually into the rest of her body. This would make the freckles less pronounced on her face, neck and chest; however, they would then blend in with her arms and torso.
To make the spots completely fade would be difficult with her given complexion, plus it just wouldn't look natural.
The darker sun spots were treated with an IPL Photo Facial. The laser light grabs a hold of the pigment in the skin and pulls it to the top layer after about a week, where it naturally sloughs off in the shower with a loofah sponge or washcloth.
The pattern of freckling was treated with the Melanage Melasma Mask. This mask is applied at our office, then is worn home and is to be left on for a few hours as determined by our aesthetician. A home treatment kit is provided to each patient to maintain the care of their skin after the procedure.

This is the Melanage Melasma Mask being applied. Notice how thick and white it is. This is because there is a sunscreen added to the peel which will protect Jodi during her drive home. In this stage, exposure to sun is not recommended. Because you will have to drive home with this mask, some patients prefer to have someone drive them so they can shield their face from the sun.
This is Jodi's results just 1 week after her procedure! Notice how much more even-toned Jodi's skin is with no large patches of brown spots. Her final results are depicted in the Lehigh Valley Style photo shoot.
