This is the exact curriculum offered to the advanced aesthetic students of the Metro Beauty Academy in Allentown, PA. Nicole Alabovitz, lead aesthetics instructor from Metro Beauty Academy, co-authored the study guides for use in an educational setting. Thomas E. Young, MD acted as a medical advisor for the manuals.
These manuals are the first of their kind to help aestheticians expand their knowledge base to gain employment in a medical practice performing laser therapies and treatments, and advanced aesthetic procedures.

Lux1540™ Fractional Laser Receives FDA Approval for Treatment of Stretch Marks
Our Palomar Lux1540™ Fractional non-ablative laser handpiece has received the first
clearance by the FDA for
the treatment of striae (stretch marks) using a fractional laser. This
new clearance will allow us to treat women who have unwanted stretch marks.
Ongoing clinical studies have shown that subjects treated with the Lux1540™ achieved an average improvement of between 51% and 75% in the appearance of their striae, based upon a blinded review of photographs comparing the pre-treatment appearance of striae versus the results three months post-treatment.
This new clearance expands the broad range of treatments offered by the Lux1540™, which may be used to treat surgical scars, acne scars, and melasma, as well as offer non-ablative skin resurfacing.

Melange Melasma MaskDo you have uneven skin tone, deep pigmentation issues or melasma? The Melanage Skin Lightening System is a superficial peel designed to improve the texture and appearance of hyperpigmented skin which involves a medicated masque and an at-home regimen.
How does it work?
Melanage 1 Masque is applied during an office visit where it is compounded freshly by our Aesthetician to ensure its potency and reliability. The masque is removed by the patient after a required length of time depending on their skin type. Patients leave the office with this masque on their face. Patients are responsible for adhering to an easy-to-follow, but strict, at-home regimen involving the application of several Melanage products following masque removal.
What results can I expect?
Results will vary but generally patients will see a significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas. Dark spots will lighten and skin texture and tone will improve. Although most patients experience peeling of their skin, not every patient will notice this. If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of the Melanage Skin Lightening System, such as: stimulation of collagen production, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminishing of fine lines and pigmentation. Proper skin evaluation prior to your peel is important and will help predict the outcome of your peel.
