Facelift is among the top five most popular cosmetic surgical procedures, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Not only can a facelift improve the way you look, it can transform the way you feel and restore self confidence.
Young Medical Spa® has partnered with Dr. Aaron Shapiro, a double board certified facial plastic surgeon to offer in-office facelift procedures at our Center Valley and Lansdale locations. Dr. Shapiro is a member of the teaching faculty of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and lectures around the world on cosmetic surgery procedures.
About the Facelift Procedure
Facelift surgery is an outpatient procedure, performed in one of our private cosmetic surgery centers under light general anesthesia.
First, Dr. Shapiro will make an incision around the ear and below the chin. The skin is then gently raised to reposition and tighten the underlying muscle and connective tissue. In some cases, Dr. Shapiro may combine liposuction with the facelift to remove excess fat and thin the skin for a natural looking lift and contour.
How long does a facelift last?
A facelift will last 10 years or more. You can increase the longevity of the facelift and maintain the youthful effects by having a healthy skin routine that includes sunscreen and professional skin care products. Other cosmetic procedures such as Botox® Cosmetic, CO2 Laser and Pellevé Skin Tightening can also be used to maintain the results of a facelift.
What is the recovery period like?
We recommend that facelift patients take one week of rest following surgery to allow for proper healing and recovery. You may experience mild to moderate swelling and bruising in the lower face and neck in the first 5 – 7 days.
Are there any alternatives to a facelift?
A facelift will offer the best results for patients with moderate to severe sagging in the face, however, there are alternatives to patients who want to avoid surgery or don’t need a full facelift. Pellevé™ Skin Tightening System, Y LIFT® and Stem Cell Facelift.
What are the risks or complications associated with a facelift?
There are risks associated with any surgical procedure. Certain lifestyle habits (such as smoking) and hereditary traits may make you more prone to these complications. Dr. Shapiro will review your medical history, any known conditions and outline any risks or complications that you might expect. Dr. Shapiro takes great care to minimize these risks throughout your surgery and during your time of healing.
